ANY nationally normed standardized test is acceptable. No form is required by Ohio law, but it is suggested for simplicity and clarity. The district cannot approve or deny your curriculum choices, so please do not fret about giving extra info to "impress" the superintendent with your choices or plan. To be eligible to homeschool in Ohio, parents must have a minimum of a high school diploma, a general education equivalent (GED) or standardized test scores that exhibit the equivalency of a diploma. If it is summer months when you move, just notify when you can. If you are not notifying for the next school year (enrolling, graduated student, moved out of state), then you do NOT send in an assessment for the previous school year. You do NOT send in any amendment. If this is your second (or later) year of notifying to homeschool in Ohio, then you also need to include your signed portfolio assessment form or composite standardized test results form from the previous year. Removing a child from public K or PreK, If you are pulling a Kindergarten child from public school kindergarten, and school has already started, then unfortunately even if they are under the compulsory age of 6, enrolling a child into public school Kindergarten makes them compulsory age, and you will need to send in an intent to homeschool notification to withdraw them from the system (see, Homeschooled families are best served by finding an assessor who is a homeschool parent themselves, or someone who is an advocate for homeschooling in some capacity. Ohio does not require you to keep track of hours spent. Curriculum choices if you even decide to use curricula- are completely up to you as the parent, and the state is not allowed to approve or deny any curriculum choices.
